The Inukai Family Foundation is proud to award a grant to Meals on Wheels People of Portland, Oregon. Meals on Wheels are hot, nutritious lunches that are delivered Monday through Friday to homebound seniors age 60 and older in Multnomah, Washington and Clark Counties. Each day, they serve 5,000 meals to elderly adults in our community as part of their vision that no senior will go hungry or experience social isolation.
As a result, Seniors throughout the Portland metro area are able to live independently and maintain their dignity because of a hot meal delivered by caring volunteers.
Hillsboro, specifically, has a large number of “hidden hungry” – seniors that do not know how to access Meals on Wheels. With the grant from Inukai Family Foundation, Meals on Wheels People seeks to expose more seniors to the nutrition services available to them in Hillsboro.
